* It is heat resistant as it is fired in the kiln on a very high temperature .
* The back  is cover with pressed foam material to prevent heat from going through to the table top, also this soft material will protect the table top from being scratched or damaged.
* The pattern on top is stenciled, so it is completely flat and suitable to place hot teapots, frying pans or very hot dishes on top.
